Less than two weeks after Pitman High School junior Brett Nichols became a household name, the man with moves like Michael Jackson has released his second video.

Nichols dances to the King of Pop’s “Smooth Criminal” in the new video, filmed in San Francisco on Saturday and posted online Monday afternoon.

“I just want to say thanks for making the ‘Billie Jean’ video so successful,” Nichols said in a video posted to YouTube. “We’re out here in San Francisco shooting the next one, and we hope you like that one too.”

Nichols hit it big when a video of his performance in the Pitman High School Talent Rally was posted to Reddit on May 21. It quickly went viral, and has since been seen by nearly 16 million people.

Nichols has since become a media darling, doing interviews with national TV networks, obtaining a celebrity publicist, and receiving acting offers.

So far, Nichols’ latest release hasn’t seen the same success as his breakout “Billie Jean” performance. As of 8:30 p.m. Monday, just over 11,000 people had seen the “Smooth Criminal” dance.

But it has earned some attention from major media, ranging from NBC’s Today show to a Fresno news station.

In a treat for fans of his initial performance, Nichols’ YouTube channel has one blast from the past.

Nichols uploaded a video of him performing that same “Billie Jean” dance at age 11, in front of a crowd at Walnut Elementary Education Center back in 2009. The video shows Nichols busting out many of the same moves that made him an internet sensation, including that famous moonwalk.

Nichols plans to release more videos in the weeks to come, including a bigger-budget remake of
Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”
