Get ready for the music of a bygone era—Buddy Holly is coming to town Friday at the Turlock Community Theatre.
Starting at 7:30 p.m., tribute artist John Mueller will take the stage to “Rave On” as rock and roll legend Buddy Holly in “That’ll Be the Day: The Music of Buddy Holly with Symphony.”
Holly was one of the first rock artists to use a full orchestra in a rock 'n' roll record release. Some of his official and well-loved releases that used full orchestration were "True Love Ways," "It Doesn't Matter Anymore," "Raining in my Heart," and "Moondreams.”
Mueller, of “Buddy… the Buddy Holly Story” fame – a hit musical touring in London and Broadway – is the number one Buddy Holly tribute artist in the U.S. With an authentic and vivacious four-piece band (guitar, drums, stand up bass and sax), fans of classic 1950s music will be delighted.
“We are very excited to have John Mueller return to our Theatre as Buddy Holly,” said Kit Casey, Managing Director for Turlock Community Theatre. “I don't think there is anyone out there that does justice to Buddy Holly, his music and his artistry, as well as John Mueller. And this time he and his band will be backed by an orchestra, which should make for a fantastic performance. To add to the excitement, the show is going to be videotaped.”

Not only will the audience hear Holly’s most well-loved songs, like "Peggy Sue," "That'll be the Day," "Oh, Boy," "Rave on," and more, but Turlock Community Theatre is excited to announce that some of Holly’s unreleased demos will be presented live for the first time anywhere, including full arrangements and orchestration.
