For those interested in art, or simply looking to volunteer at a non-profit, the Carnegie Arts Center is currently seeking volunteers in various positions.

Since its 2011 reopening, the extensively remodeled and expanded Carnegie Arts Center has utilized volunteers to greet more than 15,000 visitors and provide tours for more than 3,500 school children.

Volunteers also staff events such as the Sunday lecture series, poetry readings, concerts, dance recitals, plays, film screenings and family programs. As a private, non-profit organization, the Carnegie Arts Center heavily relies on community volunteerism to continue the vast services, exhibits and unique programs they offer.

Training for new volunteers will be held at 10:30 a.m. April 6 at the Carnegie Arts Center.

Opportunities for new volunteers include customer service, special events, clerical work, and exhibitions. Docents to give tours and lead programs are also needed. Volunteers will be given training specific to their duties, and should be at least 15 years of age and willing to commit to at least 4 hours of volunteer work per month.

Volunteer sign up forms are available online at www.carnegieartsturlock.org, and will also be handed out at the meeting.

The Carnegie Arts Center is located at 250 N. Broadway in Downtown Turlock.
