Child Pornography Case Leads to Arrest of Turlock Man

On March 15, 2010, detectives assigned to the Sacramento Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force arrested 25-year-old Brian Robert Garrett on federal charges of production, receipt and distribution, and possession of child pornography. Garrett was taken into custody at his home, in the 1900 block of Joett Drive, in Turlock, California.

In March 2009, Garrett was identified by Wood County Sheriff’s Department in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, as receiving child pornography over the internet.  Garrett purchased and sent a digital camera to a 14 year old female to produce sexually explicit images of herself and return them to Garrett.  A federal search warrant for the suspect’s residence was served on March 15, 2010. Garrett’s computer was seized during the search of his residence and Garrett was booked into custody at the Stanislaus County Jail.

Founded in 1998, the Internet Crimes Against Children task force is comprised of federal, state and local law enforcement investigators and managed by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department. It was formed to help state and local law enforcement agencies develop an effective response to online enticement and child pornography cases. The task force encompasses forensic and investigative components, training and technical assistance components, victim services, and community education.
