City taking applications for Planning Commission, Deadline nearing

The City of Turlock now has one seat open on the Planning Commission as Planning Commissioner Geoff Powers termed out December 31, 2019.

The Planning Commission is in charge of approving rezoning proposals and development agreements for commercial projects in town prior to the City Council.

The upcoming Planning Commission will be the first to hear from the four cannabis dispensaries and their Conditional Use Permit applications to open in town. They will be determining their locations and general statutes the businesses will have to abide by in order to operate within Turlock City limits.

The City Council of Turlock is urging local residents interested in the future of Turlock and to serve on a public commission to apply. The position will be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council and serve four-year terms for a max of 12 years.

The Turlock Planning Commission has seven regular and two alternate members. Alternate members serve two year terms.

The Turlock Planning Commission holds regularly scheduled meetings on the first Thursday of each month. Meetings are held at Turlock City Hall, 156 S. Broadway, in the Yosemite Community Room and begin at 7 p.m.
