Stanislaus County Fair officials have been notified that Salt-N-Pepa, an all girl R&B singing group, has cancelled their performance, which was scheduled for Monday, July 11, 2016, due to medical reasons.

“We are very disappointed Salt-N-Pepa cancelled, especially because the community was extremely excited for the show. We know this is always a possibility in our line of business,” said Adrenna Alkhas, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair.

“We are still very excited to have the Commodores replacing them. They are a great band, whose music still lives on.”

Best known for the hit songs “Brick House”, “Nightshift”, and “Three Times a Lady”,  the Commodores have been a force to be reckoned with in the music industry for over 30 years.

William “WAK” King, (trumpet, rhythm guitar, synthesizer, the only remaining original member,) James Dean "J.D." Nicholas (vocals, keyboard), and Walter Orange (drums, keyboard, lead vocals of the hit “Brick House”) are the current members that make up the band today.

The Commodores, Motown Record’s Grammy Award-winning funk/soul/rhythm and blues group from the 70’s and 80’s, will serenade fans and bring down the house this year at 8:30 pm Monday, July 11 on the Budweiser Free Stage.

The Stanislaus County Fair runs Friday, July 8 until Sunday, July 17. Tickets at the gate are $12 for adults, $5 for seniors age 65 and above, and children ages 7-12, and children aged 6 and under are free. The fairgrounds are located at 900 North Broadway Avenue in Turlock.
