County Livestock to be Sold at Stanislaus County Fair

Looking for one fine looking heifer at this year’s fair? The Stanislaus County Fair is bringing out a banner selection for the 50th Annual Junior Livestock Auction and the 47th Annual Replacement Heifer Sale.

Bidders will chance to win a prize heifer on July 11 at 7 p.m. in the Thurman Pavilion as part of the Heifer Sale. They will then get a chance to see the livestock, including rabbits, poultry, market beef, swine, sheep, and goats on July 19 at 8 a.m. for the Junior Livestock Auction.

Buyers may pre-register for the sale and auction Junior Livestock Auction at the exhibit office, in the Costco Commercial Exhibits Building E-2 until 5 p.m., July 16.

“The 4-H and FFA exhibitors tend and care for their animals all year for and many of them use the money raised at the Heifer Sale and Junior Livestock Auction for their college fund or other necessities,” said Adrenna Alkhas, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair. “I think bidders would be hard-pressed to find animals that are better fed and better cared for than those exhibited at the Stanislaus County Fair.”

With over 1,500 4-H and FFA animals entered in the 2014 Stanislaus County Fair, this year’s sale and auction are sure to produce an impressive roster of livestock.

Catalogs for the 2014 Replacement Heifer Sale are available now in the Fair’s Livestock Office. The Livestock Office is located on the Fairgrounds, near the Soderquist Road entrance. The catalogs are sponsored by Yosemite Farm Credit.

Catalogs for the Junior Livestock Auction will be available on the morning of the auction and will be distributed during bidder registration and check-in.
