CSU Stanislaus Hosting Tournament of Champions This Weekend

The first day of spring was last week, which makes this coming weekend the perfect time for California State University, Stanislaus softball.

CSU Stanislaus is hosting the “Tournament of Champions” Friday, Saturday, and Sunday this weekend at both Pedretti and Turlock Regional Sport Complex Fields.

The Tournament of Champions, now in its 14th year, has become one of the premiere softball tournaments in NCAA Div. II, with 24 teams participating this year.

The tournament begins at 8 a.m. on Friday, with games being played throughout the weekend. Games played on Friday and Saturday will decide who advances for a chance to win the tournament on Sunday.

CSU Stanislaus is invited the public to come out and enjoy some collegiate softball. Adult tickets (ages 14 and up) are $25 for a three-day pass or $10 for a single day, youth (ages 4 to 13) are $15 for a three-day pass or $5 for a single day, and children (ages 3 and under) are free. Admission CSU Stanislaus students, faculty, and staff is free with a valid Warrior ID Card.

“You should all come out and support all of the teams, especially CSU Stanislaus,” said Turlock City Councilmember Amy Bublak at Tuesday’s Council meeting.

The City of Turlock helps sponsor the tournament through community grant dollars. This year the University was awarded $5,000 to help fund the tournament, which brings hundreds into Turlock hotels and local businesses.
