CSU Stanislaus Student Mugged on Campus

David Fransen

A female California State University Stanislaus student was robbed while walking on campus Tuesday.

The student was walking eastbound past Naraghi Hall at approximately 8 p.m., near the loading, when a Hispanic male adult approached her. He was reported as being in his mid-20s, 5 feet 7 inches tall, of average build, and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

The victim stated that the man’s hand was at his waistband, implying that he had a weapon while demanding for her backpack. Although the victim did not see an actual weapon she handed the man her backpack so as to not be harmed.

The man immediately ran southeast toward Monte Vista Avenue. The victim told campus police that the male never touched her and she was uninjured.

The CSU Stanislaus Police Department is actively following up on the robbery investigation and will be providing directed patrols of campus parking lots and surrounding areas.

The campus does offer Safety Shuttles throughout campus, Monday through Thursday from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., for students walking to their vehicles at night. The CSU Stanislaus Police Department would like to remind all community members to be vigilant while walking, running or biking alone.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the University Police Department at (209) 667-3911.
