At about 12:50pm Tuesday afternoon, Turlock Police came upon a vehicle collision in the 200 block of Tampa Street.

Two vehicles were involved, a black 2008 GMC Yukon and a white 2022 Hyundai Sonata.

Through the investigation, officers learned that the driver of the white Sonata had been driving eastbound on Tampa Street when she struck the left rear of the black Yukon that had been parked on the side of the road with the right front of her vehicle.

The driver of the white Sonata displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence, so officers asked if she’d be willing to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. She agreed and completed the tests, however, performed poorly.

Based on the totality of the circumstances, officers determined that the driver of the white Sonata was under the influence of alcohol, so they arrested her.

The woman provided two chemical samples after her arrest, which indicated she had a blood alcohol content of .22%.

She was later released to her father on a citation for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater.

Both vehicles were towed away from the scene.
