This Thursday, a House committee voted to subpoena Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki for all records pertaining to a waiting list at the Phoenix VA hospital.
Representative Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) and members of the House Veterans Affairs committee weighed in on this vote, which would requisition all emails relating to the maintenance and destruction of an alleged alternate wait list at the hospital.
“As a veteran, I take this issue personally,” said Denham. “The possibility that any of our veterans could have died after being placed on an undisclosed wait list for care is extremely disturbing and I am determined to get the truth.”
The vote was prompted when the VA repeatedly ignored requests for information regarding the Phoenix VA Medical Center. The subpoena requires production of all documents, including emails and other correspondences.
