Dirt bike rider leads police on high speed pursuit Tuesday evening

On Tuesday, September 21st, 2021, at 7:07 pm, a Turlock Police officer at the intersection of Countryside Dr and Retreat Dr, Turlock, on-viewed an unroadworthy dirt bike riding northbound on Countryside Dr just ahead of him. The officer was able to catch up to the dirt bike at W Monte Vista Ave and attempted to make a traffic stop on it. When the officer activated his emergency lights, the dirt bike’s rider, later identified as Eduardo Marin, 22, of, Turlock, made a u-turn against a red light and took off from the officer southbound on Countryside Dr.

The officer chased Marin to an orchard near N Tegner Rd and Fulkerth Rd where he lost him, however, another officer in the area saw Marin on Dianne Dr near Polous Dr. When that officer was able to catch up to Marin, Marin got off of his dirt bike and dropped it on the ground. Officers conducted a high risk stop and held Marin at gunpoint ordering him to comply, which he did.

Marin was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of flight from a peace officer with disregard to public safety.

Speeds during the pursuit reached 70 miles per hour at one point on Countryside Dr. The Stanislaus State Police Department also assisted in with the pursuit.
