At about 4:56pm Thursday, Turlock Police, Turlock Fire, and American Medical Response responded to a traffic collision with injuries at Julep Way and Pecan Way.

When units arrived on scene, they found two vehicles involved, a gold 2004 Chevrolet Silverado and a blue 2009 Yamaha TT-R125.

The dirt biker was alert and talking to responders, but lying in the roadway. His age hasn’t been clarified, but he was airlifted by CALSTAR Air Medical Services to a regional children’s hospital with unknown injuries.

Officers began investigating and learned that the Chevrolet had been traveling eastbound on Pecan Way, while the Yamaha had been traveling southbound on Julep Way. For an unknown reason, the Chevrolet had been stopped in the roadway, when the Yamaha approached the intersection and attempted to make a westbound turn, crashing into the front of it.

“The investigation is still ongoing, but unsafe speed appeared to be a factor,” said Sergeant Inderbitzen, referring to the dirt biker.
