Drive-by shooting occurs in northwest Turlock neighborhood Tuesday night

On Tuesday, May 17th, 2022, at 8:13 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported weapon offense in progress near the intersection of Yale Ave and Georgetown Ave, Turlock, after the occupants of two vehicles were believed to be shooting at each other.

Reports were that the two vehicles involved were a white Acura sedan and a red SUV, possibly a Chevrolet or GMC. Both were seen leaving the area westbound on W Minnesota Ave.

Officers arrived in the area within minutes and began searching for the two vehicles, however, were unable to locate them.

Officers went back to where the shooting occurred and located a residence in the 900 block of Georgetown Ave that had a bullet hole through the garage door. The spent round was recovered and removed from inside the home by officers. Officers also located a parked and unoccupied vehicle that was struck in the 2700 block of Yale Ave.

Officers were able to obtain surveillance footage of the incident from a few different homes.

After further investigation, it is now believed that the white Acura sedan was just shooting at the red SUV and that gunfire was not being exchanged between the two.

No injuries were reported and no one involved has come forward yet.

The investigation remains on-going. Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is encouraged to call Officer Jeremiah Lupe at 209-668-1200.
