A driver who fell asleep collided with a fire hydrant on the South Walnut Road on Sunday night, pouring water into the road.

At 8:01 p.m., Turlock police and emergency crews responded to the 1800 block of South Walnut Road after the report of an accident.

The driver was traveling southbound on South Walnut when she collided with a small pole near the driveway of the Turlock Dairy and Refrigeration parking lot. The driver fell asleep at the wheel, said Turlock police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

She then drove through a bush before colliding with the fire hydrant. Water poured into the road, and due to damage, the hydrant was put out of service.

Water from the hydrant was pouring into the vehicle through its sunroof, said Turlock Fire Battalion Chief Bill Becker

No one was injured in the accident, said Lewis.
