Drunk driver arrested after being involved in collision Monday afternoon

On Monday, October 11th, 2021, at 12:52 pm, the Turlock Police Department and Turlock Fire Department were dispatched to a reported vehicle collision with unknown injuries at the intersection of N Minaret Ave and East Ave, Turlock.

When crews arrived on scene, they located two vehicles involved. One was a white Ford pickup truck and the other was a silver Honda sedan.

The driver of the white Ford pickup truck, which was its only occupant, suffered minor injuries and refused to be transported. The driver of the silver Honda sedan, Saul Manzo, 19, of Modesto, which was its only occupant, did not suffer any injuries.

Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and were deemed inoperable as a result of the collision, requiring them to be towed away.

Officers noticed signs of intoxication coming from Manzo and began conducting standardized field sobriety tests on him. As a result of the tests, officers developed probable cause to place him under arrest.

Manzo was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving while intoxicated causing injury and driving without a valid license.
