Drunk driver arrested after crashing into family SUV, injuring two teenagers early Saturday morning

On Saturday, November 27th, 2021, at 12:25 am, the Turlock Police Department, Turlock Fire Department, and American Medical Response were dispatched to a reported vehicle collision with injuries at the intersection of E Hawkeye Ave and N Olive Ave, Turlock.

When crews arrived on scene, they located two vehicles involved. One was a white GMC SUV and the other was a white Ram pickup truck.

The white GMC SUV had seven occupants, two of which suffered moderate injuries and were ground transported by American Medical Response to a local hospital. One was 16 and the other was 19. The white Ram pickup truck had an unknown number of occupants, however, none were injured.

The white GMC SUV sustained major damage while the white Ram pickup truck sustained moderate damage. Both vehicles were deemed inoperable as a result of the collision, requiring them to be towed away.

Officers noticed signs of intoxication coming from the driver of the white Ram pickup truck, whose identity has not yet been released, and asked him to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. Halfway through the tests, he decided that he did not want to continue participating in them. He was arrested.

It is currently unknown how the collision occurred.

The arrestee was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on unknown charges.
