At about 2:31am Saturday, Turlock Police responded to a traffic collision in the 1200 block of N. Tegner Road.

The caller was security at the Amazon Distribution Center, reporting that a vehicle had left the roadway from the dead-end and ended up in a ditch with a woman still inside it.

Officers arrived on scene and located the gray 2006 Ford Mustang.

The vehicle had a single driver, Blanca Gamez, 19, of Atwater. She wasn’t injured.

The vehicle sustained minor damage. The raised asphalt and fence at the dead-end were also damaged.

While officers were speaking with Gamez, they noticed she was displaying objective symptoms of being under the influence, so they asked her if she’d be willing to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. Gamez agreed and completed the tests, but performed poorly on them.

Based on the totality of the circumstances, officers determined Gamez was under the influence of alcohol and arrested her.

Gamez chose to provide a blood sample for her chemical test required by California’s implied consent law, so she was transported to Doctors Medical Center where blood was drawn.

Afterward, Gamez was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Additionally, Gamez was issued a driver’s license suspension order and her vehicle was impounded.
