Drunk driver arrested after crashing into three parked vehicles and fleeing scene Saturday evening

On Saturday, April 1st, 2023, at 7:45 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported hit and run in progress in the 1200 block of E Linwood Ave, Turlock.

Several callers reported that a woman driving a blue 2000 Ford Mustang had struck several parked vehicles and was fleeing the area in her blue Mustang. One of the callers followed the woman to a residence in the 600 block of Florence St and observed her abandon her blue Mustang in the street and run into the backyard.

Officers arrived a few minutes later and contacted a woman who identified herself as Pamela Goldsmith, 59, of Turlock. Goldsmith was determined to be the blue Mustang’s owner and admitted that she had just been driving it.

Goldsmith displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence, so she was asked if she’d be willing to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. She agreed and completed the tests.

Based on the totality of the circumstances, officers determined that Goldsmith was under the influence of alcohol.

Goldsmith was arrested and provided two evidentiary breath samples at the scene as required by California’s implied consent law.

Afterward, Goldsmith was released on a citation on the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol. She was also issued an administrative driver’s license suspension order by the California Department of Motor Vehicles and her vehicle was impounded.

Back at the collision scene, officers found three parked vehicles that had been struck. The first was a blue 2006 Scion xB, the second was a Toyota, and the third was a white 2017 Toyota Tacoma.

Neither of the three vehicles had any occupants in them at the time of the collision. The blue xB sustained moderate damage, while the two Toyotas sustained minor damage.

It’s currently unknown how the collision occurred.
