On Sunday, April 9th, 2023, at 9:42 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported hit and run that had just occurred in front of a residence in the 800 block of W Main St, Turlock.

While officers were responding, they received information that a witness had followed the suspect in a silver 2014 Nissan Versa to the intersection of West Ave N and Flower St.

Officers arrived and contacted the suspect, who identified herself as Janet Madrigal, 36, of Turlock.

Madrigal exhibited objective symptoms of being under the influence, so she was asked if she’d be willing to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. Madrigal agreed and completed the tests.

Based on the totality of the circumstances, officers determined that Madrigal was under the influence of alcohol.

Madrigal was arrested and provided two evidentiary breath samples at the scene as required by California’s implied consent law.

Afterward, Madrigal was released on a citation on the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol. She was also issued an administrative driver’s license suspension order by the California Department of Motor Vehicles and her vehicle was impounded.

Back at the collision scene, officers found three parked vehicles that Madrigal had struck. The first was a white 2019 Honda Civic, the second was a silver 2012 Dodge Durango, and the third was a silver 2004 Honda Pilot. The three vehicles had been legally parked on the side of the road in a line when Madrigal struck the rear of the white Civic, pushing it into the silver Durango which was then pushed into the silver Pilot.

The silver Versa and white Civic sustained moderate damage, while the silver Durango and silver Pilot sustained minor damage.

It’s currently unknown how the collision occurred.
