At about 8:57pm Wednesday night, Turlock Police responded to a vehicle collision in the 1000 block of Flower Street.

When officers arrived on scene, they immediately detained the driver of the responsible vehicle, later identified as Jose Nunez, 43, of Turlock, who was trying to leave the scene.

There were three vehicles involved, a white 2015 Nissan Sentra, a silver 2014 Hyundai Veloster, and a silver 2016 Ford Expedition.

Nunez had been driving the silver Veloster when he struck the back of the silver Expedition, pushing it into the white Sentra. The silver Expedition and white Sentra were both lawfully parked on the side of the road and unoccupied.

Nunez didn’t suffer any injuries, however, was displaying objective symptoms of being under the influence and was discovered to have a suspended driver’s license.

Officers asked Nunez if he’d participate in a standardized field sobriety test and he agreed, however, performed poorly on it.

Nunez was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also issued a driver’s license suspension order and his vehicle was impounded.
