At about 9:02am Thursday morning, Turlock Police responded to a traffic collision at N. Daubenberger Road and E. Hawkeye Avenue.

The caller reported that there was a vehicle that had crashed into a tree, with its driver appearing uninjured but possibly under the influence of drugs, trying to leave the scene.

When officers arrived on scene, they found that the involved Audi SUV was no longer in the tree and had backed up to the sidewalk.

Officers identified the vehicle’s driver as Stephanie Hansen, 54, of Turlock. She wasn’t injured, but did display objective symptoms of being under the influence.

Based on the totality of the circumstances, officers determined that Hansen was under the influence of alcohol, not drugs as the caller had suspected. She was arrested.

Officers then had Hansen provide two breath samples at the scene as required by California’s implied consent law, which revealed she had a blood alcohol content of .22%.

Hansen was released on a citation on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater. She was also issued a driver’s license suspension order and her vehicle was impounded.

It’s currently unknown how the collision occurred.
