IMG_1190-1

At about 4:04am Monday, Turlock Police, Turlock Fire, and American Medical Response responded to a traffic collision with injuries at Angelus Street and S. Orange Street.

The caller reported a man had his fingers chopped off in the collision.

Units arrived on scene and found four vehicles involved, three of which were parked along the east curb just south of the intersection.

Officer Hood immediately applied a tourniquet to the man with major hand injuries and continued to provide care until relieved by medics. He was transported by American Medical Response to a local hospital.

The driver of the only non-stationary vehicle (which the man was a passenger of) was identified as Monique Ramirez, 20, of Winton.

Ramirez displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol and was asked if she’d be willing to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. Ramirez agreed and completed the tests, but performed poorly on them. She was arrested.

Ramirez was issued a driver’s license suspension order and then transported to Doctors Medical Center to provide a blood sample for her chemical test required by California’s implied consent law.

Afterward, Ramirez was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol causing bodily injury.

Additionally, Ramirez’s vehicle was towed.

It’s currently unknown how the collision occurred.
