Drunk driver collides into vehicles while exiting freeway Friday night

On Friday, May 28th, 2021, at approximately 10:35 pm, the Turlock Police Department received a call of an unknown injury vehicle collision at Fulkerth Rd and State Route 99. Officers were dispatched.

When officers arrived, they found a total of four vehicles involved, all in different locations. All involved suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment. The driver of one vehicle, however, Elizabeth Neely, 57, of Turlock, was stuck in her vehicle and needed to be extricated. The Turlock Fire Department’s Battalion 4, Squad 32, and Engine 34 were dispatched along with American Medical Response.

After Neely was extricated, officers began their investigation. Their investigation revealed that Neely was exiting southbound State Route 99 at Fulkerth Rd when she passed multiple vehicles on the right and then collided into a vehicle in the intersection. It further revealed that she continued westbound on Fulkerth Rd where she collided with another vehicle before proceeding to drive for approximately 125 yards until she lost control and veered to the right, travelling northbound over the sidewalk. Her vehicle then came to a stop as it collided with a tree and a new Ram pickup at the dealership in the area.

Neely was placed under arrest and had to be transported by ambulance to a local area hospital to receive medical clearance prior to being booked into jail. Once Neely was cleared, she was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on a charge of driving under the influence causing injury.
