Drunk driver with two misdemeanor warrants arrested during traffic stop Thursday night

On Thursday, December 1st, 2022, at 9:55 pm, a Stanislaus State Police officer near the intersection of W Monte Vista Ave and Crowell Rd, Turlock, observed a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so he made a traffic stop on it.

The officer made contact with and identified the vehicle’s driver, whose identity we currently don’t know.

The driver returned with two $6,000 misdemeanor bench warrants out of San Benito County. The first one was for possession of drug paraphernalia and the second one was for possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of methamphetamines.

Officers noticed that the driver was exhibiting objective symptoms of being under the influence, so they began asking him DUI interview questions. He admitted to drinking alcohol.

Officers then asked the driver if he would be willing to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. He agreed and completed the tests.

Based on the totality of the circumstances, officers determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

The driver was arrested and released on a citation on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater, as well as his warrants. He was also issued an administrative driver’s license suspension order by the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
