Drunk Man Arrested After Threatening Bar Security and Driving Off

At about 1:19am Saturday, Turlock Police responded to a disturbance in progress at Staley’s Club in the 400 block of E. Main Street.

The caller reported that he had just been in an argument with a man later identified as Isaac Sanchez, 24, of Turlock, when Sanchez stated he was going to go get a gun from his vehicle that he was going to use to shoot and kill security. Security took the threat seriously and feared for his life.

Security then observed Sanchez get into a vehicle and leave the business.

Sergeant Hernandez located Sanchez driving the vehicle and stopped him at Stop N Save Liquors in the 800 block of E. Main Street.

While speaking with Sanchez, officers noticed that he was displaying objective symptoms of being under the influence.

Officers asked Sanchez if he’d be willing to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. Sanchez agreed and completed the tests, but performed poorly on them.

Based on the totality of the circumstances, Sanchez was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested.

Maldonado chose to provide two breath samples at the scene for his chemical test required by California’s implied consent law. The breath samples revealed that Maldonado had a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater.

During an in-field show-up, Sanchez was positively identified as who had threatened security.

Before being taken to jail, Hernandez used his own money to buy Sanchez a pack of cigarettes and allowed him to smoke due to his cooperation.

Sanchez was then booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of threatening to commit a crime which will result in death or great bodily injury to another person, driving under the influence of alcohol, and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater.

Additionally, Sanchez was issued a driver’s license suspension order and his vehicle was impounded.
