A Turlock man was arrested Thursday afternoon after he fled from the scene of multiple accidents and abandoned his vehicle.

The suspect, Harold Mitchell, 26, was arrested for DUI, hit and run, misdemeanor domestic violence, and child endangerment.

Mitchell was allegedly involved in a physical altercation with a female victim in the 100 block of North Avenue, near Crowell Elementary School, around 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, said Turlock Police Department spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

While the victim was attempting to get into her vehicle and flee the scene, Mitchell allegedly drove his vehicle into hers to prevent her from leaving, said Lewis.

Lewis said the victim was able to safely get out of her vehicle with her child.

Mitchell then fled down the street, eventually colliding with a tree and a house in the area. He fled the scene of both collisions, said Lewis.

A witness of the collisions followed Mitchell, and was able to help lead officers to his location, Lewis said.

Mitchell eventually abandoned his vehicle, but witnesses saw him. Police were then able to apprehend the suspect.
