At about 9:15am Thursday, Turlock Police, Turlock Fire, and American Medical Response responded to a security check at a residence in the 500 block of E. Springer Drive.

The caller reported there had been shots fired inside the residence. He had called the non-emergency number and eventually disconnected on dispatch. There was no answer on callback.

Officers arrived on scene and entered the home where they found a man and a teen.

There were no signs of any shooting or other type of emergency, and everything appeared to be fine.

The incident was determined to be a prank “swatting” type call made using Google Voice.

Turlock Fire and American Medical Response were canceled.

Earl Elementary was briefly placed on lockdown during the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist in it is encouraged to call Officer Devin Rush at 209-668-1200.
