Eisenhut Appointed by Governor and Sworn In by State Senator

Turlock newest representative to the California Air Resources Board, John Eisenhut, was sworn in by State Sen. Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres) on Friday in a small ceremony held at the Turlock Chamber of Commerce.

Eisenhut, a farmer and agribusinessman who previously ran for State Assembly as a Democrat, was appointed to the post by Gov. Jerry Brown (D) this week. Eisenhut replaces fellow Turlocker Dorene “DeeDee” D'Adamo, who served on the CARB for 14 years before she received an appointment to the State Water Resources Control Board in March.

“I am just thrilled that John's been appointed to CARB,” Cannella said. “I don't think this region understands how important it is.”

Eisenhut's background in agriculture will come in handy as he navigates the complex world of air policy. Eisenhut will be tasked with balancing jobs and health, protecting both this region's industry and its residents through air quality mandates.

“Sometimes those things will not be easy choices,” Eisenhut said. “There will be conflicts in those goals.”

Eisenhut's CARB appointment still requires State Senate confirmation. If confirmed, he will earn $41,889 in annual compensation.
