Elderly Woman Attacked in Her Home, Suspect At-Large

Turlock police are currently looking for an unknown female suspect who attacked an elderly woman in her home on Sunday morning.

The attack occurred at approximately 9:35 a.m. on Sunday on the 1600 block of Rockford Way.

The 79-year-old victim was walking home when she was approached by a female subject in her 20s.

According to Turlock police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis, the young suspect made small talk with the victim and followed her to the victim’s door.

At this time, the suspect asked to enter the victim’s home; the elderly woman denied the request but the suspect forced her way in, said Lewis.

Once in the residence, the suspect pushed the elderly victim, causing her to fall to the floor. Then the suspect proceeded to strike the victim multiple times in the head and face, said Lewis.

A neighbor who had a key to the residence came to check on the elderly woman and opened the door to find the suspect standing over the victim.

The neighbor asked what the suspect was doing then ran across the street to get help and the suspect fled on foot, said Lewis.

The suspect is described as a tall 20-year-old female with a thin build and blonde hair. She was last seen running westbound on Hawkeye Avenue toward Geer Road.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries, but was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Anyone with information on the incident or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the Turlock Police Department at 209-668-5550.
