Elderly woman displaced by fire in her townhome Monday night

On Monday, December 27th, 2021, at 10:15 pm, the Turlock Fire Department was dispatched to a check out at Centurion Plaza, 3100 Andre Ln, Turlock, for reports of smoke in the complex.

As firefighters were responding, additional calls began to come in reporting that there was a townhouse on fire. The incident was then upgraded to a residential working structure fire which brought in several additional engines, a truck, and four Chief officers from both the Turlock and Modesto fire departments.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a two story townhome with heavy fire conditions in the attic and on the roof. Firefighters worked in both the defensive and offensive strategies for over an hour before they were able to put the fire out.

After the fire was put out, crews still remained on scene for over an hour conducting investigation, overhaul, and other post fire activities.

The fire had begun in the attic and spread to the roof and the second story of the townhome, however, not to any of the adjacent townhomes.

No one was injured during the incident.

The townhome had one resident, an 84-year old female, who was displaced by the fire. She has family in the area that she will be staying with.

American Medical Response responded to provide firefighter and patient care, the Turlock Irrigation District and Pacific Gas and Electric responded to secure utilities, while the Modesto Fire Department and Turlock Rural Fire Protection District provided city coverage while this incident was on-going.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

The investigation remains on-going. Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is encouraged to call Fire Marshal Mark Gomez at 209-669-2119.
