At about 8:06am Wednesday, Turlock Police responded to a carjacking that had just occurred at The UPS Store in the 3200 block of W. Monte Vista Avenue.

When officers arrived on scene and spoke with the victim, a 70-year-old woman, they determined the incident not to be a carjacking, but rather a robbery.

The victim stated she was returning to her vehicle when a gold Hyundai pulled up and its occupant exited their vehicle and smashed her vehicle’s window. The suspect grabbed the victim’s purse which was on the front seat and began to flee in their own vehicle. The victim then grabbed ahold of her purse as the suspect was driving off and was dragged a short distance.

Unfortunately, the suspect was able to make off with the victim’s purse.

The victim’s arm was injured during the incident and American Medical Response transported her to a local hospital.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist is encouraged to call Officer Ruiz at 209-668-1200.
