Emanuel Offers ‘Mommy & Me’ Lounge at Stanislaus County Fair

Mothers and babies who visit the Stanislaus County Fair will have their own special place to cool off, thanks to a unique partnership between Emanuel Medical Center and the Fair.

“The Mommy & Me Lounge is going to give mothers and babies a place to escape the hustle and bustle of the fair,” said John Sigsbury, president and CEO of Emanuel Medical Center. “Inside there are three private nursing areas with recliners, two diaper changing stations, and a big play area for tots to enjoy while mom or dad is tending to the baby.”

Previously located outdoors, the Mommy & Me Lounge will be located inside the cafeteria building this year, sheltered from the heat of July.

“We have been looking to move the mommy and me tent for a while and creating an area
for parents to take care of their young children inside one of our buildings,” said Adrenna
Alkhas, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair. “We are excited to partner with Emanuel
Medical Center.”

EMC’s Jessica’s House and Monkey Business staff and volunteers will be available to help kids with craft projects at the lounge. There will also be toys, a TV, a child-sized picnic table, and high chairs available.

“The lounge will even be stocked with diapers and wipes, in case anyone visiting the fair runs out,” Sigsbury said. “The fair is such a part of the history and fabric of the community, we want to be sure young families don’t miss out because they’re concerned about bringing infants.”

The Mommy & Me Lounge will be open until 9 p.m. everyday of the fair.

The Stanislaus County Fair opens July 11 for a 10-day run. Discounted Fair admission tickets are available now.
