Local school children can build on their classroom learning with an imaginative, creative agriculture-focused program, thanks to a joint effort from the Stanislaus County Fair and the Turlock Chamber of Commerce Ag Committee.
The annual program highlights a different animal each year, challenging students to create projects which showcase the animal with various fun facts. This year, the Stanislaus County Fair and the Chamber of Commerce Ag Committee have chosen the chicken.
With specially designed curriculum kits, teachers can instruct students about the Central Valley agricultural industry to teach the importance of agriculture to everyday life.
The kits include a book on chickens and various activities for the classroom environment, and will offer each classroom the opportunity to create a chicken of their own.
The specially developed activity kits will be available for pickup on April 22 at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds, located at 900 N. Broadway in Turlock. Kits can be picked up or turned in Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m..
Completed projects must be turned back in by 5 p.m. on June 20, and will be accepted prior to the deadline.
