Fatal Vehicle Collision West Main Street / West Avenue South Intersection

The Turlock Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle collision that occurred on Sunday, near the intersection of West Main Street and West Avenue South.

At approximately 12:15am, the Turlock Police Department received calls about a solo vehicle collision involving a sedan near the intersection of West Main Street and West Avenue South.

“The sedan was being driven at a high rate of speed by a 22 year-old-male heading east on W. Main Street,” stated Turlock Police Lieutenant Russ Holeman. “As the driver approached the intersection with West Avenue South the driver struck a concrete island causing him to lose control of the vehicle.”

The vehicle then collided with a telephone pole, shearing the pole from its base. The vehicle continued moving, striking a concrete wall, causing the vehicle to overturn and land in the intersection of W. Main and Farr streets.

The driver was partially ejected from the vehicle and was declared deceased on scene. The deceased was the only occupant of the vehicle and his name is not being released until the next of kin is notified. It is believed that alcohol was a contributing factor to this collision.
