FBI Nabs Citibank Robber

On Thursday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested the “Bad Beard Bandit,” a man allegedly responsible for the Feb.5 robbery of Citibank in Turlock.

Gerardo Orozco Lopez, 28, of Half Moon Bay, was arrested on Thursday for allegedly robbing eight California banks over the past four months.

The FBI gave Lopez the “Bad Beard Bandit” moniker due to the large, black, fake beard of poor quality the suspect wore during robberies to conceal his identity.

On Feb. 5, Lopez allegedly robbed the Citibank in Turlock. He allegedly handed the teller a note demanding money, inferring he had a weapon, and fled with the money.

The bandit never displayed a weapon at any of the robberies, but threatened that he had a weapon.

-Nov. 21, Bank of the West, 411 W. Main St., Ripon
-Nov. 26, Chase Bank, 123 Spreckels Ave., Manteca
-Dec. 3, Chase Bank, 691 W. 11th St., Tracy
-Dec. 4, Chase Bank, 4520 Dublin Blvd., Dublin
-Dec. 10, Citibank, 395 W. El Camino Real, Sunnyvale
-Dec. 18, Chase Bank, 5142 Stevens Creek Blvd., San Jose
