February Packed with Fun Events at Turlock Library

The Turlock Library will have a month jammed packed full of events for all ages, including the very popular LEGO day.

On Feb. 3 at 4 p.m., guests can make butterflies using toilet paper rolls and Valentine hearts at the Happy Heart Butterfly craft event.

The following day, the Turlock Library Book Club will meet on Feb. 4 at 10:30 a.m. to discuss the novel Crown of Dust by Mary Volmer. A limited number of copies are available for checkout at the library. For more information, please contact the Turlock Library Reference Desk at (209) 664-8100. 

Children, tweens and teens can make Friendship Blossoms on Feb. 10 at 4 p.m. Crafters will create a “flower” using a lollipop as the flower’s center and heart shaped petals.

Teens and adults are invited to learn the fine art of chocolate tasting on Feb. 14 at 1 p.m. Small samples of five different chocolates will be offered to participants, along with tasting guidelines. Registration is required as space is limited. Please call 209-664-8100 to sign up.

Tweens and teens can visit the library on Feb. 17 at 4 p.m. to make Candy Kiss Roses. Using Hershey’s Kisses, participants will craft “rose blooms” complete with floral tape and ribbons for a beautiful and tasty treat!

The Turlock Library will also begin a new craft program on the third Wednesday of every month starting Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.; this program, entitled “As Seen on Pinterest,” will feature crafts popular on the social media site.

For February, crafters will create decorative mugs and plates using paint pens. The program is recommended for ages 14 and older. Registration for this program is required as space is limited. Please call the Turlock Library at 209-664-8100 to register.

Finally, children of all ages are invited to build LEGO displays for the library on Feb. 24 at 3:30 p.m. LEGO play helps children learn basic mathematical and engineering skills in a fun, hands-on environment. Children under the age of 4 are welcome to participate, however they must have direct parental supervision.
