At about 12:14am Monday, Turlock Police Officer Rocha made a traffic stop at Lander Avenue and Angelus Street.

Rocha made contact with and identified the vehicle’s driver as Robert Mendoza, 42, of Modesto.

When Rocha had his dispatcher run Mendoza, he discovered he had a $100,500 local felony bench warrant for three counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon or person addicted to a narcotic and one count of possession of ammunition by a prohibited person.

Officer Conrad then arrived to assist and conducted a sniff of the vehicle with his canine partner Bjorn, but he didn’t alert. A subsequent inventory confirmed there wasn’t any contraband in the vehicle.

Mendoza was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on his warrant.
