The Turlock Fire Department will be performing training to prepare for the anticipated busy wildland fire season.
Training began on Wednesday and Thursday, and will continue Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the area of South Kilroy Road near the intersection at Spengler Way.
The Turlock Fire Department is advising Turlockers that there will be visible smoke in the area. The Department asks that drivers in the area please drive carefully and watch out for personnel and fire engines working at the training location.
The training sessions are designed to reproduce an actual wildland fire scene, using specific fire control measures for all of the firefighters.
The training also allows the Turlock Fire Department to train with the Turlock Rural Fire Department members on wildland firefighting safety, strategy, tactics, communications, handline construction, hoselays, and equipment inventory.
