Fire starts in duplex’s garage Monday afternoon

On Monday, October 3rd, 2022, at 12:09 pm, the Turlock Fire Department, Modesto Fire Department, Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigations Unit, Turlock Police Department, and American Medical Response were dispatched to a reported residential working structure fire at a residence in the 500 block of E Hawkeye Ave, Turlock.

When crews arrived on scene, they found a duplex with a fully involved garage fire extending into the living quarters.

Crews were informed that a disabled person was possibly inside of the residence, however, a subsequent search was all clear.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within about 20 minutes and fully extinguish it shortly thereafter.

Firefighters remained on scene for an extended period of time after the fire was out conducting overhaul, investigation, and other post fire activities.

The Turlock Irrigation District and Pacific Gas and Electric Company responded to the scene to secure utilities, while the Modesto Fire Department and Turlock Rural Fire Protection District provided city coverage for the duration of the incident.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.
