Firefighters respond to series of arson fires Monday night

On Monday, February 28th, 2022, at 9:46 pm, the Turlock Fire Department was dispatched to a reported potential structure fire at a residence in the 200 block of E Monte Vista Ave, Turlock.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a debris fire burning in the backyard of an abandoned home. Firefighters were able to quickly put the fire out and prevent it from spreading to any surrounding structures.

At 9:52 pm, firefighters were dispatched to a reported dumpster fire next to Carl’s Jr., 2980 Geer Rd.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a dumpster with its contents fully involved. Firefighters were able to quickly put the fire out and keep it contained to the dumpster.

At 9:57 pm, firefighters at the Carl’s Jr. fire were flagged down about another dumpster fire behind Accurate Family Dental, 2840 Geer Rd.

Additional crews were dispatched to that location and found another dumpster with its contents fully involved. Firefighters were able to quickly put the fire out and keep it contained to the dumpster, preventing it from spreading to a vehicle parked just a few feet away.

Due to the fires being in such close proximity and time to each other, they were all determined to be arson fires.

The Turlock Police Department responded and checked the area for a possible suspect, but were unable to locate one.
