Firefighters save rest of duplex after room catches fire Thursday night

On Thursday, September 29th, 2022, at 8:07 pm, the Turlock Fire Department, Modesto Fire Department, Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigations Unit, Turlock Police Department, and American Medical Response were dispatched to a reported residential working structure fire at a residence in the 1100 block of Colorado Ave, Turlock.

When crews arrived on scene, they found a single story duplex with smoke showing. Firefighters made entry into the duplex and found a room on fire along with its contents.

Firefighters immediately began fire attack and were able to quickly put the fire under control, keeping it contained to the room of origin. The fire was extinguished shortly thereafter.

Firefighters remained on scene for an extended period of time after the fire was out conducting overhaul, investigation, and other post fire activities.

The Turlock Irrigation District and Pacific Gas and Electric Company responded to the scene to secure utilities, while the Modesto Fire Department and Turlock Rural Fire Protection District provided city coverage for the duration of the incident.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, however, it is known that the residence did not have anyone living in it at the time of the fire and that its residents had just recently moved out.
