Former Turlock Police Officer Sex Crime Sentence

Former Turlock police officer Jorge Cruz was sentenced to 16 months in prison for sex crimes involving a 17 year old girl.
Jorge Cruz pleaded no contest in August to felony charges including: sodomy with a minor, oral copulation with a minor, and sexual intercourse with a minor.
Cruz took the girl who had been part of the Turlock Police Explorer Scout program to a motel room in Modesto to have sex with her.
Cruz may only have to serve as few as eight months in prison. Because the charges he was sentenced for did not include forcible sex and that the girl was older than 14, Cruz will not have to register as a sex offender.
Paul Goyette, defense attorney for Jorge Cruz, requested that Cruz be separated from the other inmates because he was a police officer that helped arrest gang members and could face retaliation.
This case came from a sex crime investigation concerning the same 17 year old Pitman student and Pitman High School teacher Carl Kubicek. Carl Kubicek pleaded no contest to two felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. Kubicek had sex with the girl at her home and in a Pitman High School classroom.
Kubicek is scheduled for sentencing next week.
