Former Turlocker Finalist in Lay’s New Chip Flavor Contest to Win $1 Million

A former Turlock resident is one of four finalists competing to win $1 million in Lay’s “Do Us A Flavor” contest.

Chad Scott, who was raised in Turlock but is now a visiting lecturer at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, submitted the chip flavor Lay’s Cappuccino which was selected from more than 14 million entries submitted for the contest.

Scott is competing against Matt Allen, who submitted Cheddar Bacon Mac & Cheese, Meneko Spigner McBeth, who submitted Wasabi Ginger, and Julia Stanley-Metz, who submitted Mango Salsa.

The four finalists are competing for a $1 million prize, which will go to the flavor that receives the most consumer votes.

All four flavors, which were fully developed by the Frito-Lay’s culinary experts and not the contestants, are in stores now.

To vote for Scott, visit DoUsAFlavor.com, where consumers can vote once each day. Voters can also use Twitter, Instagram, or Vine to vote for Scott by using the hashtag #SaveCappuccino, or text “Cappuccino” to 24477 (CHIPS).

Voting ends on Oct. 28. The winning flavor will be announced in November and will remain on shelves after the completion of the contest.
