At about 12:51am Friday, Turlock Police responded to an assault and battery in progress behind Staley’s Club in the 400 block of E. Main Street.

When officers arrived on scene, two men took off running, one of which attempted to get away by going over a barbed wire fence, but was met by an officer on the other side of it.

One of the men was identified as Rodolfo Gomez, 26, of Merced. He was discovered to be a parolee-at-large for possession of a controlled substance or paraphernalia for such in a jail or prison, had a no-bail felony Ramey warrant out of Merced County for fleeing from a peace officer by vehicle with disregard for public safety, and a no-bail felony bench warrant out of Merced County for violation of parole.

While taking Gomez into custody, two women later identified as Elishah Perez, 33, of Merced, and Viridiana Santibanez, 29, of Atwater, began intervening with the arrest. They both displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence and appeared to be unable to care for themselves, so they were arrested.

Another man later identified as Marcus Leon, 28, of Merced, was also pointed out as possibly being involved in the incident. He too displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence and appeared to be unable to care for himself, so he was also arrested.

Gomez, Perez, Santibanez, and Leon were all booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center. Gomez on charges of possession of a controlled substance, obstructing or resisting a public officer in the discharge of their duty, and violation of parole, as well as his warrants, and Perez, Santibanez, and Leon on the charge of disorderly conduct.
