Freezing Temperature Warnings

Turlock’s record low temperature for December 8th is expected to be broken as it is forecasted to get down to 25 degrees overnight.
 
The past three nights have brought this year’s first freezing temperatures with under 32 degree temperatures.
 
There was reported sightings of snow but nothing that stuck to the ground.
 
People should wrap their exposed piping with insulation, cover their vegetation, and make arrangements for their pets to be sheltered if they have not done so already.
 
This morning’s traffic has been exposed to black ice and frozen puddles on the roadways. Try to eliminate sudden acceleration or stops.

A FREEZE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM PST THIS MORNING. THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SACRAMENTO HAS ISSUED A FREEZE WARNING… WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM TO 9 AM PST WEDNESDAY.
MINIMUM TEMPERATURES EARLY THIS MORNING ARE EXPECTED TO BE IN THE LOWER TO MID 20S… THOUGH THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR COLDER LOCATIONS IN THE NORTH VALLEY AND FOOTHILLS TO DIP INTO THE UPPER TEENS. TONIGHT AND WEDNESDAY MORNING HAS THE POTENTIAL FOR SIMILAR MORNING LOWS.
* IMPACTS: SENSITIVE VEGETATION MAY BE HARMED. PETS AND LIVESTOCK THAT MAY BE SENSITIVE TO THE COLD SHOULD BE BROUGHT INTO PROTECTIVE AREAS.
* POTENTIAL FOR SOME LOCATIONS TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS WITH EXPOSED WATERLINES.

A FREEZE WARNING MEANS SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE IMMINENT OR HIGHLY LIKELY. THESE CONDITIONS WILL KILL CROPS AND OTHER SENSITIVE VEGETATION.
