A car wash will be held at Wendy’s on Geer Road on Saturday, Oct. 4 to help raise money for the funeral costs of the Turlock father and son who drowned on a San Francisco beach on Sept. 24.

Jose Garcia Sr., of Turlock, 47, and Jose Garcia Jr., 24, of Merced, were swimming in the ocean at Ocean Beach when they were overcome by waves.

Rescue crews arrived to pull one of the victims from the water; the other had already been pulled from the water, but was unconscious on the beach. Both were pronounced dead in San Francisco medical centers.

To help raise money for the funeral costs, a car will be held at the Wendy’s, located at 2395 Geer Rd., beginning at 10 a.m. on Oct. 4.
