David Fransen

On Tuesday, March 22nd, 2022, at 1:58 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported armed robbery that had just occurred at Chevron ExtraMile, 100 E Glenwood Ave, Turlock.

When officers arrived on scene, the clerk told them that a male subject had entered the business and brandished a firearm that was tucked in his waistband, demanding money. The clerk complied and the subject ran off eastbound from the business with an undisclosed amount of currency.

A few minutes later, an observant resident on Baywood Ln called to report that a subject had been seen running northbound past their home. The description of that subject matched that of the robbery suspect.

Officers began saturating the area and looking for the subject. He was located at the intersection of Ninth St and Rockwood Ave and was identified as Lyle Harlan, 28, of Turlock.

The victim was brought to Harlan and was asked if he could identify Harlan as the man who had robbed him, which he said he could. Additionally, a similar amount of currency that was taken in the robbery was found on Harlan.

The gun used was never recovered.

Harlan was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of robbery and violation of probation.
