On Thursday, January 19th, 2023, at 3:34 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported larceny in progress at Chevron ExtraMile, 2725 W Monte Vista Ave, Turlock, after a man had returned to the business for the second time in a two-day period to steal gasoline after somehow bypassing a pump’s payment system.

When officers arrived on scene, they found and made contact with the suspect, who was later identified as Daniel Dunn, 33, of Waterford.

Dunn was found to be in possession of about 30 gallons of stolen gas.

When officers asked Dunn to identify himself, he gave his brother’s name and date of birth, however, it was quickly discovered that that wasn’t him and his true identity was eventually discovered.

When officers had their dispatcher run Dunn, they discovered that he had a $15,000 misdemeanor bench warrant out of Riverbank for flight from a peace officer, obstructing or resisting a public officer in the discharge of their duty, reckless driving, and possession of methamphetamines.

Dunn was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of false personation and theft, as well as his warrant.
