Grammy Winning ‘Los Lobos’ to Play Turlock Next Week

Multiple Grammy Award-winning Los Lobos, an American Chicano rock band, will visit Turlock on Feb. 15 to play at the Turlock Community Theatre.

Los Lobos, who played at the White House in 2009, formed in 1973 and released their first major label album ‘How Will the Wolf Survive' in 1984.

In 1987, Los Lobos recorded Ritchie Valens covers for the soundtrack to the film 'La Bamba.' The title track ‘La Bamba’ became a number one single for the band, and earned ‘Song of the Year’ recognition at the Grammy’s. Los Lobos has also released multiple albums featuring original and traditional Mexican songs.

Throughout the years, Los Lobos has remained a common household name within the music industry.

In 2010, both Cesar Rosas and David Hidalgo, members of Los Lobos, were featured artists in the Experience Hendrix Tour. During the same year, the band released their first album of new material in four years entitled 'Tin Can Trust.'

“'Tin Can Trust' is a taut, focused album without a note or lyric to waste. Yet it plays like a conversation between old friends,” wrote Shawn Amos, of The Huffington Post. “Like all great bands, Los Lobos are greater than the sum of their parts. They play with a sense of purpose that's divorced from the trends of the moment. Los Lobos want to last long more than they want to stay on top.”

The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 15 at the Turlock Community Auditorium, located at 1574 East Canal Drive.

Tickets range from $35 to $49 and can be purchased online at www.turlocktheatre.org.
